It's happening. I'm starting to see to see more and more bike riders during my commute. My hometown has just installed bike racks downtown (finally!) and it appears that all over the country people are staying away from their cars. See the report here

My Dad had a motorcycle accident this past weekend, so I'm probably moving back to SC within the next month to take care of him and the family. He had head injuries (no brain damage) and other extensive injuries to his right foot and right hand, including a partial amputation of his thumb. He's stable right now, but is undergoing several more surgeries soon and will need lots of rehab over the next year or so.
